A futuristic slogan for those who truly shape the future

Founded in France in 1983, Aixam-Mega (where ‘Aix’ stands for Aix-Les-Bains, its place of origin, and ‘Am’ for ‘Automobiles’) is Europe’s leading manufacturer of minicars and quadricycles. Since 2013, it has been part of Polaris, the US giant listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), which, with a turnover of 8.93 billion dollars in 2023, is the world leader in the powersports sector (ATVs, quads, snowmobiles and off-road, on-road and marine vehicles).

With 365,000 vehicles sold between 1983 and 2023, Aixam is historically the leading European manufacturer of minicars. It was also the first car manufacturer to produce 100% electric minicars, a market it entered in 2008.

It was all very nice, but two details were still missing. To begin with, a verbal summary of the brand – in other words, a tagline or slogan, in English; as we know, there are no equivalent words in French – c’est la vérité! And then a link with the Italian press, not just the trade press: the topic of minicars, microcars or toy cars, whatever you want to call them, is very à la page these days (there’s the French at last!) but Aixam is (was) essentially under-promoted.

Words, images and (drive) tests

For this reason, at the end of May, we organised in Milan, at STEP, FuturAbility District, the first press conference for Aixam to present its own strategies for Italy and Europe, an overview of the market and the latest product launch of the e-Minauto Access. Over 50 journalists from the press nationwide were present, including specialist publications and the mainstream press, who took part in afternoon in a test drive with the minicars on display in front of STEP.

On stage were Tom Faget, Managing Director of Aixam Mega Italia and Sales and Marketing Director at Aixam Mega, and Marco Guerrini, Sales Manager at Aixam Mega Italia, alongside a speech by Michele Moretti, Head of Institutional Relations at Confindustria ANCMA – the National Association of Bicycle, Motorcycle and Accessories Manufacturers.

“With e-Minauto Access,” said Tom Faget, “we are completing the range, which currently comprises six models in the catalogue – including electric and internal combustion versions: one exclusively electric model and two internal combustion models. Our strategic choice is to give customers the freedom to choose the powertrain they prefer, without imposing a specific model. In fact, the vehicles that account for more than 90 per cent of sales in Italy are available in both electric and internal combustion versions.”

“This is a highly dynamic and evolving market,” added Marco Guerrini, “which is growing year on year thanks to the various types of customers who are turning to micro-mobility.” The press conference was organised in collaboration with Prodea Group.
